NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt’s Jordan White was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week on Monday, marking the second week in a row that a Commodore has been honored by the league office.
White was recognized after helping the Dores to a 31-7 win at then-No. 11/10 South Carolina, their first in an SEC opener since 2011 and first road victory over an AP Top 25 opponent dating back to the 2007 campaign. He joins Nick Rinaldi, who was chosen the Defensive Player of the Week following Vandy’s Week 2 win at Virginia Tech.
In the defeat of the Gamecocks—which was the first for the Commodores in the series since 2008, and their first in Columbia going back to the previous season—White recorded the team’s top overall and run block grades for the third straight week. In addition, the graduate transfer from Largo, Maryland, did not allow a sack, or a quarterback hit or pressure on 30 pass snaps.
His efforts helped the Commodores post 22 first downs in the contest as they averaged better than five yards per snap and held the ball for a season-best 35:43.
White and No. 20/23 Vanderbilt return home to play host to Georgia State Saturday at FirstBank Stadium. The game will air on ESPNU, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m.
