ATHENS, Ga. – Senior Liebelei Lawrence is in fourth place after the first round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic after posting a score of 73. The Commodore are in a tie for 13th place as a team after the first day of play.
Lawrence shot a one over par, 73, and is four strokes behind the leader, Meagan McChrystal of LSU, who posted a first-round 69.
As a team, Vanderbilt shot a first-round 316, 19 strokes behind first-place LSU, who fired a 297 on Friday. Besides Lawrence’s 73, other scores for the Commodores came from Jacqui Concolino, who shot an 80, which tied her for 51st, Megan Grehan, who carded an 81 (T-68), Brooke Goodwin, who shot an 82 (T-75), and Julie Bartholomew, who fired an 83 (T-80). Amber Lundskog played as an individual and shot a first-round 89 (T-93).
LSU leads the tournament by five strokes over Alabama, Georgia, and Purdue, who are all in a tie for second place.
The second round takes place on Saturday at the University of Georgia Golf Club.
