SORRENTO – The Vanderbilt women’s golf team ended the UCF Challenge with a three-over par, 219 (302-297-296) to finish in 15th place at the RedTail Golf Club. Senior Leibelei Lawrence paced the Commodore effort with a three-over par, 219 (72-74-73) to finish in a tie for 27th place.
Lawrence finished one stroke better than freshman Megan Grehan, who finished at 220 (76-68-76) to finish in a tie for 31st. Other Vanderbilt finishers were Brooke Goodwin, who carded a 222 (73-77-72, T-41), Julie Bartholomew, who ended with a 235 (81-78-76, T-86), and Jacqui Concolino, who shot a 78 and 75 in her two final rounds after being disqualified in the first round.
Duke ran away with the tournament after shooting a 13-under par, 581, nine strokes better than second-place Purdue, who ended the tournament with a 590. The Blue Devils’ Alison Whitaker captured medalist honors with an eight-under, 208 (65-71-72), two strokes better than Purdue’s Junthima Gulyanamitta, who finished at 210 (72-66-72).
Vanderbilt’s next tournament will be the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic March 21-23 in Athens, Ga.
