Weekend Trip to California

Lacrosse has its second road game of week Saturday at Stanford

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt lacrosse travels to Stanford, California, for a Saturday night matchup against Stanford at 8 p.m. CT. The game will stream on Stanford Live Stream-3.

The Dores are coming off a 17-16 win over Butler on Wednesday afternoon in a game that saw nine ties and five lead changes. Vanderbilt came out and took a lead on the Bulldogs with four straight goals to start the first quarter but Butler went on to score five unanswered to go ahead 5-4 at the half.

Graduate student Brooke Baker tallied another five-goal performance for the Dores, including back-to-back goals in the fourth to tie the game with just over four minutes remaining. Kemper Robinson sealed the win for the Commodores less than a minute after Baker’s final tally, giving the Dores a 17-16 edge as time expired.

Baker has scored 10 goals on the season and has the third-highest goal-per-game average in the country scoring 5.00 per contest. Callie Hem (Harvard) and Ellie Masera (Stony Brook) are the only individuals averaging more than Baker. Baker is leading the country in free position goals per game with 3.00.

Vanderbilt takes on Stanford for the first time since meeting in Palo Alto in 2016. The series is tied 7-7 all-time, but the Dores look to earn their first victory after losing two consecutive meetings with the Cardinal. Vandy’s last win came in 2014 when the Dores claimed a 16-15 decision in overtime in Stanford.
