NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team will host Memphis on Friday followed by hosting Harvard and Tennessee State in a doubleheader Sunday at the Currey Tennis Center.
The Commodores welcome Memphis after downing Middle Tennessee State 4-1 last Friday to remain 3-0 at home.
Senior Panu Virtanen clinched the match for the Dores with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5.
On Friday, Vanderbilt will face a 1-4 Memphis team. The Tigers are currently 0-3 on the road.
In the last battle between the two teams, Memphis outlasted the Dores 5-2 during the 2016 season.
On Sunday, the Commodores will open the day by taking on undefeated Harvard.
The Crimson boast a 6-0 record and enter Sunday’s matchup after sweeping Bryant 4-0 at home. Sunday’s match will mark Harvard’s first SEC matchup.
Vanderbilt last faced Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where they came up short in a 4-3 battle.
Following the Harvard match, the Dores will take on Tennessee State.
The Tigers sport a 1-3 overall record after a 6-1 victory over Cumberland to enter Saturday’s matchup with the Dores.
Last season, Vanderbilt swept the Tigers 7-0 at the Currey Tennis Center in their second dual match of the season.
Admission to this weekend’s matches is free. Parking is available in the 25th Ave Garage.
