Starting Lineups
– Vanderbilt started senior Jermaine Beal, sophomore Brad Tinsley and sophomore Jeffery Taylor at guard, sophomore Andre Walker started at forward and junior A.J. Ogilvy started at center.
– It was the 13th time this season and sixth straight game that Vanderbilt used this starting lineup. Vanderbilt is 11-2 with this starting lineup.
– Taylor made his 50th consecutive start and has started every game of his career … Tinsley made the 47th start of his career and 30th in a row, starting every game since Jan. 31, 2009 at Auburn … After having his streak of 70-straight starts snapped against Western Kentucky on Dec. 11, Beal made the 84th of his career … The start by Walker was the 19th of his career and 18th in 19 games this season … Before this season, his only start was against MTSU on Nov. 24, 2009 when he suffered a season-ending knee injury … Ogilvy started for the seventh game in a row after not starting the previous four games … Ogilvy made his 14th start of the season and 75th of his career. The Sydney, Australia native has started in 75 of his 83 career games.

– The Commodores handed Tennessee their first home loss of the season.
– The Commodores’ last win in Knoxville was in 2005, an 88-63 win against the Vols. Vanderbilt has never started 3-0 on the road in SEC play since 1964-65.

– Today’s meeting was the 176th all-time between Vanderbilt and Tennessee… Tennessee still leads the all-time series 108-68 and the series in Knoxville 66-17.

– Five players scored in double figures (Beal, Ogilvy, Taylor, Tinsley, Jenkins) for the Commodores for the first time since the MTSU game on January 4.
– Vanderbilt had more assists (15) than turnovers (14) for the 10th time this season. The Commodores have accomplished the feat in eight out of their last nine games.
– VU shot 50.9% from the floor for the game, and 56.7% in the second half. So far in SEC play, the Commodores are shooting 51.6% from the floor and 55.2% from the field in the second half.
First Half Notes -Tennessee 35, Vanderbilt 31
– Tennessee won the opening tip and scored the first basket of the game. Vanderbilt is 8-1 on the season when losing the opening tip and 8-2 when their opponent scores the first basket of the game.
– With his layup at the 18:35 mark of the first half, Jermaine Beal scored the first basket for the Commodores.
– Vanderbilt tied up the game with an A.J. Ogilvy dunk at the 17:11 mark of the first half off a sweet assist from Brad Tinsley.
– The streak continues… With Brad Tinsley’s three-pointer with 16:44 remaining in the first half, Vanderbilt extended its consecutive games streak with at least one three-pointer made to 748 … VU is one of only three schools (UNLV and Princeton) that have made at least one three-pointer in every game played since the three-point line was established for the 1986-87 season … Only UNLV (756) has a longer streak than Vanderbilt… This also gave the Commodores their first lead of the game.
– Vanderbilt took its second lead of the game with a layup by Jermaine Beal at the 16:05 mark of the first half.
– With a layup by Festus Ezeli at the 13:02 mark of the first half, Vanderbilt extended its lead to seven.
– After Ezeli’s layup, Tennessee went on an 8-0 run to take an 18-17 lead with 11:40 to play.
– With John Jenkins’ three-pointer at the 11:08 mark of the first half, Vanderbilt took the lead back at 21-18. Jenkins has made a three-pointer in 18 of his 19 games as a freshman.
– The Dores and the Vols traded baskets and the lead numerous times throughout the last ten minutes of the half, but Vanderbilt took the lead for the majority of that duration off a three-pointer by Jermaine Beal at the 7:15 mark of the first half, making the score 26-24.
– Tennessee tied it up with two free throws by Bobby Maze, but Andre Walker helped Vanderbilt take the lead once again with a highly contested layup with 4:47 remaining in the first half.
– After a layup by Steve Tchiengang, Tennessee tied up the game at 30 apiece with 2:39 remaining, sparked by a three-pointer by Scotty Hopson.
– Jeffery Taylor helped Vanderbilt regain the lead with a made free throw at the 1:53 mark of the first half.
– J.P. Prince gave the lead back to Tennessee with a three-pointer at the 1:13 mark of the first half. A fastbreak layup by Steven Pearl with four seconds remaining in the half put the Vols up by four at halftime.

Second Half Notes
– Vanderbilt cut into Tennessee’s lead with a great inside dish from Jermaine Beal to Andre Walker for a quick layup.
– The Commodores tied the game at 39 with a fastbreak layup by A.J. Ogilvy with 16:59 remaining in the second half.
– After a slew of technical fouls, Tennessee regained the lead with a three-pointer by J.P. Prince at the 16:14 mark of the second half.
– The Commodores cut back into Tennessee’s lead with a jumper by Jermaine Beal with 14:20 remaining in the second half.
– Andre Walker came up with a huge steal at the 11:55 mark of the second half, drawing a foul. He went 1-for-2 from the charity stripe on that play.
– Jermaine Beal brought the Commodores back within two with a three-pointer with 11:24 remaining in the second half.
– Andre Walker came up with a great steal, dishing down the court for a fastbreak layup by John Jenkins at the 10:19 mark of the second half.
– Vanderbilt took back the lead at the 9:28 mark in the second half with a layup by A.J. Ogilvy, putting Vanderbilt up 56-55.
– Brad Tinsley added to the Vanderbilt lead with a three-pointer at the 8:42 mark of the second half.

– A.J. Ogilvy and Jeffery Taylor’s layups, and Jermaine Beal and John Jenkins’ free throws in the closing minutes solidified the Commodore win.
Individual Notes
– With the win, Head Coach Kevin Stallings is now 205-131 at Vanderbilt … He is second in school history in career wins and trails only Roy Skinner (278 wins) … With the team’s win against Manhattan on Dec. 30, Stallings moved into second place among all-time wins leaders at Vanderbilt, surpassing Bob Polk’s 197 wins
– Jermaine Beal scored 25 points for the ‘Dores, leading all scorers. He is now 37th on the career scoring list for Vanderbilt with 1,032 points.
– The eight field goals made for Beal is a new career high (8-12). His previous best had been seven, a feat he had accomplished six times, with the last time coming at LSU on March 4, 2009.
– Beal logged a season-high 38 minutes of action and scored 25 points, had two assists and a steal with no turnovers. The 25 points was a season-best for the senior from DeSoto, Texas.
– VU had four other players in double figure scoring, including A.J. Ogilvy with 12, and John Jenkins, Jeffery Taylor, and Brad Tinsley each with 10.
– Ogilvy added three steals and five rebounds to go along with his 12 points.
– Jenkins scored 10 or more points for the ninth time in 10 games.
– Andre Walker contributed in all ways with nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
– Vanderbilt had four players with five rebounds or better – Walker (7), Ezeli (5), Ogilvy (7), and Tinsley (5).
– Walker led the team in assists with five. Tinsley added four. It was Walker’s fourth game this season with at least five assists, and the sixth time that he has either tied for the team lead or led the team in assists.
