NASHVILLE – Fresh off the winter break, Vanderbilt swam past Evansville, 180-82, on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at the Centennial Sportsplex.

The win improves the Commodores to 2-4 on the season overall. Vanderbilt won 13-of-14 races on the day to get past the Purple Aces.

Vanderbilt began the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, as the Commodores finished in a time of 1:47.43. Chrissy Oberg, Elly Faulkner, Lauren Torres and Caroline Thomas combined to pick up the first win of the day.

Faulkner, Oberg, Thomas and Torres all recorded two individual race wins on the afternoon, as well. Faulkner won the 100 yard breaststroke with a finishing time of 1:07.12 and the 200 yard IM in a time of 2:09.78. The two wins mark a career-best for Faulkner in a single meet.

Oberg won the 50 yard backstroke in a time of 26.99 and the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 26.27. Thomas registered wins in the 50 yard freestyle (24.07) and 100 yard freestyle (52.95), while Torres won the 100 yard butterfly (57.98) and 200 yard freestyle (1:54.51).Hannah Martin continued her solid freshman campaign with another win in the 100 yard backstroke (59.74).

Seniors Erika Deardorf, Sarah Lynch and Amy Salce all recorded wins on Senior Day for the Commodores. Deardorf won the 1000 yard freestyle in 10:20.06 for her first individual win of the season.

Lynch won the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 30.96, while Salce recorded a win in the 500 yard freestyle (5:10.05).

In the final event of the day, head coach Jeremy Organ used an all-senior lineup in the 200 freestyle relay. Deardorf, Salce, Betsy Galenti and Chelsea Morey registered a second-place finish with a time of 1:42.78.

The Commodores will look to carry over the momentum when Vanderbilt travels to Knoxville, Tenn., in just over two weeks to compete against in-state rival Tennessee.
