VU Swimming to Face Marshall

Nov. 9, 2007

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt swimming and diving team hits the road again this weekend, traveling to Huntington, W.Va. for a dual meet against the Marshall Thundering Herd.

“It should be a real competitive meet for our team,” Vanderbilt head coach Jeremy Organ said. “It should be a meet where everybody is able to contribute to the team’s success and hopefully have continued improvement. Overall, it looks like the two teams match up pretty well. There should be some close races.”

The Commodores are coming off a pair of dual meet losses to SEC foes, falling to Alabama and LSU last weekend. Leigh-Ann Axt will look to continue her solid freshman season, in which she has won six individual races so far, including at least one in every meet.

Marshall enters the meet with a dual record of 3-5. The Herd are coming off an impressive dual meet victory against Radford 197.5-85.5. In the meet, Marshall won 13 of 16 events and diver Siobhan Schuurman set a school record in the one-meter dive with a score of 280.72.

Action at the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium begins at 1 p.m. Complete results will be available on vucommodores.com.
