VU Swim: Kentucky Tops VU

Dec. 3, 2006

LEXINGTON, Kent. – The Vanderbilt swim team dropped their first dual meet to Kentucky over the weekend in Lexington.

The Commodores were unable to top any Wildcat times, though VU Head Coach Jeremy Organ is happy with the team’s experience.

“It was good for them to see how a dual meet works,” Organ said. “In our last meet, there were lots of heats and different schools. Here it was us in the odd lanes, Kentucky in the even lanes and you go head-to-head. It’s a very different experience.”

The Commodores were down several competitors due to illness, including freshman Kim Lesnick who helped lead the Vanderbilt at the Western Kentucky Invitational November 17.

“We had a smaller roster than we wanted too and for some of our athletes this was their first meet,” Organ said. “But they got to see a good SEC team and where the SEC Championships will be held, so it was a good experience.”

The Commodores’ next contest will be a dual meet against Louisville on January 12.
