NASHVILLE – Head Coach Ronnie Woodard and the Vanderbilt soccer program will host four weeks of camp this summer on campus.
“We are excited to offer three different types of camps this summer,” Woodard said. “Our two weeks of camp offered in June are focused on the beginning player. We focus on individual skill work and introduce a small-sided 6-v-6 environment.”
The two sessions of day camp are open to girls and boys ages 5 to 15. The day camp offers both full- and half-day options, and is designed specifically for players learning the fundamental skills of soccer.
The Monday through Friday camps are scheduled for June 6-10 and June 20-24. Individual instruction at the day camp emphasizes the use of correct techniques. The learning environment is enhanced with small-sided games which guarantee personal involvement, as well as team concepts.
In July, two overnight camps will be offered. The Elite Residential Camp (July 17-20) is designed to improve the skill level and tactical understanding of all players. The camp is open to girls ages 12 to 18.
“Our Girls Elite Residential Camp is dedicated to the older player who wants to fine tune her game,” Woodard said. “We focus on improving technical abilities and educating players on the tactical aspects of a full-sided match.
Our Girls High School Team Camp is the newest addition to our summer schedule,” Woodard added. “The focus is to help prepare high school teams for the upcoming fall seasons through the improvement of individual techniques, team tactics and team bonding.”
Vanderbilt’s High School Team Camp (July 23-26) concludes the summer camp season. The camp features an intense training environment including two training sessions per day, game play each evening following the day’s training and an experienced staff of college coaches from throughout the southeast.
