The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. this weekend to participate in the seventh annual Kitty Harrison Invitational. While the tournament is hosted by the University of North Carolina, half of the tournament matches will be played at neighboring Duke University, just eight miles away.
Rather than a flighted tournament, the invitational will keep teams together for doubles and singles competition. On Friday and Saturday, Vanderbilt will face one team in doubles in the morning before playing two different teams in singles. Sunday will feature one doubles match and one singles match.
The Commodores will face Duke, Georgia Tech, Pepperdine, Virginia, UNC and Texas A&M over the weekend. Other teams competing in the invitational are William & Mary, Minnesota, Maryland, UNC Greensboro and Princeton.
The tournament is held in honor of Kitty Harrison, who was the former North Carolina women’s tennis coach from 1977 to 1998.
