VU Men’s Golf 13th at Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate 3/31/2005 AWENDAW, S.C. – Vanderbilt freshman Brett Lange finish tied for 10th place and the Vanderbilt men’s golf team finished tied for 13th place in the inaugural Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate (Par 71 — 7,147 yards), played at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C. After an opening round 300 on Monday, the Commodores fired rounds of 297 and 306 to wrap up the tournament. Lange led the Commodores with the 10th-place finish on the individual leaderboard. Hamilton produced the second-best round of any Commodore with a 72 in Monday’s opening round. He finished with a score of 218 over three rounds. Sophomore Luke List finished four strokes behind Lange and tied for 25th with a three-round total of 221. List produced the best round of any Commodore with a 71 in the second round. Senior Mark Donnell was eight strokes behind List at 230 and tied for 59th. Sophomore Dos Goldsmith tied for 63rd with a score of 234. Junior Will Armstrong carded a three-round total of 240 and placed for 73rd. Kentucky won the event by defeating Augusta State in a one-hole playoff. Both teams finished with 54-hole total of 866. Augusta State’s Scott Jamieson took home medalist honors with a three-day total of 205. Other SEC teams in the field included Auburn (third), Georgia (fourth), LSU (fifth), South Carolina (7th), Alabama (10th) and Vanderbilt (T13th). The Commodores will be back in action April 15-17 at the Southeastern Conference Championships in St. Simons Island, Ga. |
