NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt lacrosse team wraps up the regular season at home taking on the Villanova wildcats Sunday afternoon at 12:00 pm CT.
Before the season’s conclusion, head coach Cathy Swezey and the lacrosse team would like to honor and thank their eight seniors for their commitment to the team these past four years.
“This class has meant a lot to our program,” said Swezey. “They have competed with the best teams in the country and never for a moment have they stopped working. I am certain that they have bright futures ahead of them”

VU (5-10, 1-5) comes off a hard 11-7 loss against Marquette in their Wednesday night clash.
Heading into Sunday’s matinee, five Commodores have scored in the double-digits with two student-athletes on the verge with nine goals. Redshirt-junior will take the field one last time at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex, with a team-high 37 goals and 39 points in her repertoire. Jill Doherty leads the squad in assista and drar controls, connecting for goals 19 times this season, and earning 33 draw controls for the black and gold.
Defensively, Callahan Kent sits just one stop away from her 150th save this season. The junior goalie is fourth in the country in saves at 149, and 20th in saves percentage at 48.4%.
Additionally, senior Emma Dagres ranks 41st nationally with a team-high 24 caused turnovers.
Villanova heads into their final match with a 3-13 record. Also eliminated from the BIG EAST tournament, Nova also owns just one conference win with an 11-5 victory over Cincinnati. The Wildcats are looking to rebound after dropping their Wednesday night game to the Temple Owls by a final of 10-7.
Five Wildcats have earned 10+ goals this season, With Jackie Froccaro posing the biggest threat to the Vandy defense. The grad student leads the team in scoring with 30 goals, 40 points and ten assists, and 44 draw controls.
Nova has fielded three goalies this season with Julia Michaels leading the trio with 144 saves on 111 goals allowed.
In their last meeting, the Commodores left Philadelphia with a hard fought 12-10 loss to close out the season.
