NASHVILLE – The Vanderbilt women’s lacrosse team will open its Fall Ball schedule on Saturday when Louisville and Cincinnati converge on Nashville for a trio of exhibition contests.
The Commodores and Cardinals are scheduled to begin Saturday’s action at 1 p.m. CT on the field inside the Vanderbilt Track behind the Student Recreation Center. Louisville will then take on Cincinnati at 2 p.m. before the Commodores and Bearcats face off at 3 p.m.
Vanderbilt is coming off an 8-8 season that ended in heartbreaking fashion with an overtime loss against Ohio State at the American Lacrosse Conference Tournament in Gainesville, Fla. Nine Commodore freshman will be making their first appearances in the black and gold for Head Coach Cathy Swezey.
Fans are welcome at Saturday’s matches. Admission is free.
Saturday is the first of two exhibition dates for Vanderbilt this fall. The Commodores will travel to Philadelphia, Pa., next month to take part in the Penn Play Day on Oct. 20. Vanderbilt has withdrawn from a previously scheduled appearance at the Navy Fall Tournament on Oct. 13.
Vanderbilt’s 2013 schedule begins on Feb. 3 when the Commodores travel to Jacksonville. The Commodores’ home schedule next year features eight dates, including conference games against Northwestern and Florida.
