COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Vanderbilt finished the second day of competition at the 2013 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships with another school record breaking performance Wednesday evening at the Texas A&M 
Student Recreation Natatorium.
Through two days of competition, the Commodores have set five new school records (200 medley relay, 200 free relay, 800 free relay, 200 IM and 50 free). Vanderbilt is currently in 12th place with 92 points. Georgia sits on top of the standings with 500 points.
To close out day two, Vanderbilt broke the school record in the 200 freestyle relay set all the way back in 1990. The relay consisted of Caroline Thomas, Sarah Lynch, Melissa Roberts and Hannah Martin, who touched the wall in a time of 1:34.56.
In the prelims of the 200 IM, Elly Faulkner set a new school record with her time of 2:02.90. Jess Eccher previously set the record of 2:04.64 in 2011.
Thomas then proceeded to break the school record in the prelims of the 50 freestyle. Her time of 23.55 edged out the previous mark of 23.80 set by Amy Batchelder in 1990.
Vanderbilt did not have individuals advance to the finals on the first day of individual racing.
Competition resumes Thursday morning at 10 a.m. CT with prelims in the 400 IM, 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle.
