Vanderbilt senior Ally Carey has been named one of four finalists for preseason Player of the Year by Lacrosse Magazine. The publication has opened a fan poll to get your opinion on who the best player in collegiate lacrosse will be this season.
A native of Bel Air, Md., Carey made her first appearance with Team USA this past fall during Stars & Stripes Weekend. She is joined on the preseason POY list by Maryland’s Karri Ellen Johnson and two American Lacrosse Conference competitors: Florida’s Kitty Cullen and Northwestern’s Shannon Smith. Here’s what the magazine had to say about Carey:
“A nominee for LM’s Preseason Player of the Year in 2010 as well, Carey is a do-it-all midfielder for the Commodores and has proven herself to be one the best overall players in the country. As a junior last season, she was third on the team in points (30) and first in ground balls (60), draw controls (59) and caused turnovers (32).”
