INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Vanderbilt’s Victoria Varano has repeated as a member of Junior Team USA after earning the spot at the Junior Gold Championship.

Varano, a rising sophomore from Stony Point, New York, had finished second among the 588 competitors in the U18 age qualifying (26 games) before being eliminated in the 16-girl match play. Varano has international experience on the junior team, having competed in the U18 World Junior Games last summer in Sweden.

Her spot on the USA team continues a year of success, as she was voted an honorable mention All-American as a freshman starter on Vanderbilt’s national championship team.

Others making the U18 USA team included Gianna Brandolino, who won the age group championship, defeating Karina Capron, 228-202. Katelyn Abigania, Erin Klemencic and Kaitlyn Stull were other selections coming out of Indianapolis.
