Vandy Trio Headed To Dallas

Gunnar Hansen, Langston Patterson and CJ Taylor will represent Vanderbilt at SEC Media Days

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt football student-athletes Langston Patterson, Gunnar Hansen and CJ Taylor will join head coach Clark Lea at SEC Media Days.

The group will represent Vanderbilt on Monday, July 15, the first day of the annual event, to be held at the Omni Hotel in Dallas. Vandy takes part in the afternoon session alongside Ole Miss.

Taylor has been named a preseason All-SEC selection by Phil Steele and Athlon this summer. The senior started nine games for Vandy a year ago, finishing third on the team in tackles and second on the team in tackles for loss. He added two interceptions, three pass break-ups and two forced fumbles.

Patterson has also been named preseason All-SEC by Phil Steele and Athlon. He led the Commodores in tackles during his sophomore season, making 74 in 11 games. The highlight came against Ole Miss when he had nine tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and an interception. He earned a spot on the Pro Football Focus Defensive Team of the Week for his performance against the Rebels.

Hansen brings 23 returning starts back to Vandy’s offensive line, including the last 17 straight. He played nearly all of his 779 snaps last fall at left tackle. Hansen saw his first action as a sophomore in 2022, starting 11 games and playing 640 snaps at left tackle and left guard.

SEC Media Days run July 15-18 in Dallas. Live coverage will be available on SEC Network throughout the week.

The Commodores open the 2024 season on Aug. 31 when Virginia Tech travels to FirstBank Stadium (11 a.m. on ESPN). Click here for ticket information.
