Vandy swim prepares for South Carolina

Jan. 14, 2016

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Following a reinvigorating training trip to Puerto Rico, the Commodore swim team is ready to hop back into home waters on Saturday, Jan. 16th, for a little league competition against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

“Really great time in Puerto Rico for our training trip,” said head coach Jeremy Organ. The team did a fantastic job day in and day out in the pool, we had a little time to head out on a catamaran trip and do a little snorkeling, this kind of trip away from the swimming pool is a lot of fun for the girls and provides great memories for everyone. Looking forward to getting back to racing this weekend.”

Vanderbilt (4-3) began the second portion of the season on a strong note, taking down the Trojans of Little Rock for the fifth meet in a row, 211-68. Powerful swims throughout the day bolstered the Commodores in every event, as the team took home first place in each race; including five podium sweeps.

In their second SEC contest of the year, the ‘Dores hope to build off last month’s success. The Gamecocks head to West End with a 0-3 record; loses coming from Alabama, Florida and Duke.

Admission is free for every swim meet, with action taking place on Saturday at Centennial SportsPlex.

NOTE: The Commodores final home meet of the season will take place on January 30th at Ensworth School at 11:00 am.
