NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt swim team is back home this week to take on in-state rival Tennessee. The Commodores and Volunteers will face off tomorrow night at 5:30 pm CT inside Centennial Sportsplex.
The ‘Dores last competed over fall break in San Diego when they took on San Diego State and UC San Diego in a tri-meet. Vandy defeated UC San Diego in the pool but ultimately fell 151-143 due to the diving points. The Aztecs also edged out the Commodores by a score of 168-94. The ‘Dores were on the podium often, picking up three wins on the afternoon and look to keep the momentum going heading into tomorrow night.
Scouting the Volunteers: Tennessee will make its first trip to West End since the Commodores revived the program 11 years ago. This will be the second meeting between the two schools in a dual meet. The first meeting took place in Knoxville back in 2013, with the Volunteers claiming a 155-86 victory. The Volunteers carry a 2-2 record with wins over North Carolina and Kentucky so far this season.
Fans are encouraged to come out to Centennial Sportsplex and come early, as the first 150 fans will receive a free Vanderbilt t-shirt along with pizza. Members of the Vanderbilt cheer squad will be there to support the Commodore swim team as they take on the Volunteers Friday night.
