Vandy swim begins the season at home

Sept. 22, 2016

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt swim team begins the 2016-17 season Friday afternoon as it hosts SEC-foe LSU at 2:00 pm CT at Centennial Sportsplex.

The Commodores broke six school records last season, including one freshman record, and bring back 18 letterwinners from the 2015-16 squad. The ‘Dores will also welcome six newcomers to the team and are expected to make their collegiate debuts against the Tigers.

“Really looking forward to getting started with the season,” said head coach Jeremy Organ. “We have been working really hard in the pool and it is a great way to start with a conference meet against LSU. They are a very good team and it will give everyone a look at what the conference season will look like.”

Scouting the Tigers: LSU makes the trip to West End for the first time since 2012 when the Tigers defeated the Commodores 181-80. LSU finished seventh at the SEC Championships last season in Missouri. This will be the first meet of the season for the Tigers.
