NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt returns to the links Friday as it hosts of the annual Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
“Hosting the Mason Rudolph Championship is one of my favorite things to do as the Vanderbilt coach,” Vandy head coach Greg Allen said. “We’re blessed to have a home course like the Vanderbilt Legends Club and we love showing it off to the teams that come play each year.
“This year’s field is really good again and our girls are excited to play at home against some of the best teams and players in the country.”
The field has 14 teams—including seven SEC members—consisting of Vanderbilt, Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, Chattanooga, Denver, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, LSU, Middle Tennessee, Mississippi, Ohio State and Washington. Vandy last won the Mason Rudolph team title in 2018.
Seniors Celina Sattelkau and Tess Davenport will lead the Commodore team along with Natasha Kiel, Lynn Lim and Tillie Claggett. Vanderbilt will also field four individuals consisting of Jayna Choi, Virginie Ding, Ariel Yu and Meghan Meserole.
“Our lineup is very different than past Mason’s with two freshmen in there so they obviously don’t have as many rounds under their belt playing Legends,” Allen said. “But what they lack in experience they make up for with a lot of talent and a strong work ethic. And they understand we have two experienced seniors in the lineup.
“As a team, our focus this weekend will be staying present on the task at hand and that’s hitting committed golf shots and enjoying the moment.”
This weekend’s event will be played on the North Course at a par of 72 with varying yardage layouts each round.
The Commodores are scheduled to tee off at 9:20 a.m. Friday alongside Mississippi State and Denver. Live scoring for the event can be found HERE.
