Vandy Enters Bracket Play in Fourth

The Dores improved their tournament record to 10-0

HOWELL, N.J. – Vanderbilt bowling had another unbeaten day at the Garden State Classic earning the No. 4 seed after two rounds of qualifying.

“It was a good day,” head coach John Williamson said. “We were able to win our matches and stay in the championship bracket. The comeback in the FDU match was an example of the shot making and clutch performance we’ve had all fall. I thought Haley [Lindley] and Victoria [Varano] were really steady for us today.”

The lineup of Isabel Allen, Kaylee Hitt, Paige Peters, Haley Lindley and Victoria Varano started Saturday off with a 987-918 win over North Carolina A&T. Varano and Peters led the way for the Dores with respective scores of 209 and 203.

Varano shot 235 to post the Dores’ top score in Round 2 as the team cruised to a 981-817 win over Molloy. Lindley contributed a 222 to Vandy’s total.

The Commodores had their highest scoring game of the day in Round 3, scoring 1,104 to beat Mount Saint Mary’s. Alyssa Ballard, Sydney Bohn and Natalie Kent entered the lineup for Allen, Hitt and Peters versus the Mount.

Vanderbilt continued its unbeaten day with a 913-891 win over Niagara.

In the final match of the day, the Dores came back to defeat Farleigh Dickinson 1,072-1,056. Bohn registered Vandy’s highest game of the match, scoring 248. Freshman Saphyre Nofuente also saw game action versus the Knights when she was subbed in for Ballard.
