The Commodores jumped to a first-quarter 10-0 lead that was extended to 27-3
by the third quarter. Then the Scarlet Knight offense took command of the
game, scoring five touchdowns in the second half. The last touchdown came with
only 1:11 left in the game.

Vanderbilt quarterback Jay Cutler completed 14 of 18 pass attempts for 260
yards, one for a touchdown. He was also the game’s leading rusher, which
included a touchdown run in the third quarter.

The Commodores had a chance to win back the lead in the final minute of the
game when what appeared to be a 66-yard completed pass to Marlon White was
negated when Cutler was flagged for passing the ball after moving beyond the
line of scrimmage. The ball would have been nine-yard line. Following the
penalty, Cutler was sacked to force a turnover on downs.

The Commodores will be in Athens next week to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.
