Vanderbilt Women’s Soccer Posts Shining Victory Against Samford in Final Preseason Game 8/23/2004 In their last game before regular season play, the Vanderbilt women’s soccer team posted a 4-1 victory against the Samford Bulldogs on Saturday, August 21. The Commodores scored two goals in the the first 26 minutes of the game. “We really were able to convert on great scoring opportunities,” VU Head Coach Ronnie Coveleskie Hill said. “This game had a different feel to it, the players were energetic and fiery.” Commodores who contributed goals included Kim Perkins, Molly Wilson, Ashley Duffy and Sarah Dennis. Three of the Commodores goals were converted off corner kicks. “We haven’t been able to execute those kind of plays in the past, it was exciting to see. These were three top notch goals off corner kicks,” Coveleskie Hill said after the game. Catch the women’s soccer team as they open the regular season at home versus highly respected Wake Forest who competed in the NCAA tournament in the 2003 season. The Commodores face off against the Demon Deacons on Friday, August 27 at 7:00pm at the Vanderbilt Soccer Complex. Vanderbilt (1-0-1) def.
