Vanderbilt welcomes Marshall for Senior Day

Nov. 28, 2017

NASHVILLE, Tenn.

The Vanderbilt swim team hosts their second and final home meet of the season on Wednesday, November 29 as they welcome Marshall to the Centennial Sportsplex at 6 p.m.

The Commodores head into senior night after a strong weekend of swims at the Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston, Texas in mid-November. The three-day event saw 20 top three finishes from Vandy swimmers, and the Dores surged to finish the event in sixth place after finishing the first day in ninth place in the 10-team event.

Seniors Kate Hornaday, Breanna Sapienza, Summer Brown, Brenda Cha, and Madeline Hunt will be competing in their final home meet for Vanderbilt, and there will be a brief celebration of their Vanderbilt careers before the dual.

All Vandy fans have a chance to win some great prizes at Wednesday’s dual. Fans can enter to win a prize pack from the swim team an Apple watch, and gift card from Barnes and Noble, Starbucks, and Kroger.

After the Marshall dual, Vanderbilt will take nearly a month break from competition. The Dores will hit the water again on December 30, as they travel to Buies Creek, N.C. for a dual against Campbell.

SCOUTING THE HERD

The Thundering Herd rolls into Nashville after competing in the Ohio State Invitational, and suffering losses to both Cleveland State and Green Bay in a two-day long tri-meet.

Marshall sophomore Angelica Di Marzio comes to the competition after winning her first C-USA swimmer of the week earlier this month, after she set a C-USA season best in the 1650-yard freestyle.

After Wednesday’s dual, Marshall will stay in state for the weekend and head to the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville.
