LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Vanderbilt swim team started its weekend off with a 120-54 win over Arkansas-Little Rock, Friday night, at the Donaghey Aquatic Center. The Commodores won nine of 10 events, despite swimming off events.
Vanderbilt started the evening with the 400-yard medley relay. The VU “A” team of Chrissy Oberg, Elly Faulkner, Rachel Koch and Caroline Thomas finished with a time of 3:58.35, for first place. The “B” team of Alexis Mayhall, Lauren Egan, Alexandra Blankenburg and Margaux Georgiadis finished in third with a time of 4:03.60.
The Commodore freshmen picked up five individual wins against the Trojans. Egan and Blankenburg took wins in the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard breaststroke, respectively. Egan finished at a time of 5:11.90, while Blankenburg took a time of 2:26.19.
Carrie Bencic picked up the first individual win of the evening in the 1000 freestyle, finishing with a time of 10:32.40. Christina Wang took the top spot in the 200 IM, just ahead of teammate Koch, with a time of 2:12.38. Kayla Moran took first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:07.36.
Vandy now looks ahead to Saturday morning, as it prepares for a double-dual meet with Arkansas and Kansas at 11 a.m., from the Arkansas Natatorium.
