Goodson has made quite a name for himself on the amateur level within the state of Alabama.  Before this weekend’s title run, he had previously completed play fourth (69-65-72-73) and 15th at the State Amateur event.  He has posted two consecutive runner-up finishes at the Alabama State Match Play Championship (2002, 2003) and boasts a victory at the Montgomery Country Club Invitational.  He also finished fourth at the 2002 Birmingham Invitational with rounds of 72-71-71.

During his high school career, Goodson picked up the Alabama state individual title as a senior after finishing second in 2000.  His Hoover High School squad won the Alabama state championship in each of his sophomore, junior and senior campaigns.

Over his three seasons in the Black and Gold, Goodson has registered 10 top-20 finishes in 29 career events and has been a key contributor in helping VU reach the NCAA Division I Championships for two consecutive years.  During the 2003-04 campaign, he registered a career-high finish of sixth at the Mason Rudolph Championships after carding rounds of 72-70 for an even par total of 142.  He fired his low round of the season (68) on the final day of the 2003 Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions to help the Black and Gold secure the team championship.  His scoring average of 74.11 was good for second on the Commodore squad behind only freshman Luke List (72.03).
