FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Vanderbilt alumnus Cole Sherwood returns to middle Tennessee this week, as he begins his run in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals at Vanderbilt Legends Club. Play takes place Thursday-Sunday on the North Course and will air on Golf Channel.
Sherwood, a six-time All-American with the Commodores from 2020-24, returns to Vanderbilt Legends Club after finishing inside the top 156 on the Korn Ferry Tour points list at the conclusion of the regular season. He comes back to his alma mater ranked 34th on the Korn Ferry Tour points list with 591. Sherwood qualified for the Simmons Bank Open for the Snedeker Foundation, the first stop on the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, in his first full professional season.
The Austin, Texas, native made his pro debut on the Korn Ferry Tour midway through the 2024 season, after earning a card through PGA TOUR University at the conclusion of his collegiate career. Sherwood held onto his spot on the Korn Ferry Tour for the 2025 campaign through PGA Q-School this past December.
It’s been a strong first full season on the Korn Ferry Tour for Sherwood. He has played in 22 events, with his best finish coming at the 118th Visa Argentina Open in March, where he tied for second with a score of 18-under 262. Weeks after his runner-up finish in Argentina, Sherwood tied for third at the Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club in Savannah, Georgia. The former All-American posted three top 10 finishes this season and placed inside the top 25 in five tournaments.
The Korn Ferry Tour Finals begin Thursday at 6:40 a.m. on the North Course at Vanderbilt Legends. Sherwood opens Round 1 on the first tee box at 7:30 a.m., then begins Round 2 on Friday at 12:40 p.m. from Hole 10. He will need to make the cut to advance to Saturday and Sunday.
Golfers who are inside the top 144 on the points list after the event at Vanderbilt Legends move on to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship on Sept. 18-21. From there, 120 golfers advance to the next round of the Korn Ferry Tour Finals on Oct. 2-5 at the Compliance Solutions Championship. The 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Championship takes place Oct. 9-12 in French Lick, Indiana, where the top 75 golfers on the points list will play for 20 PGA TOUR cards for the upcoming season.
