Vanderbilt lacrosse signs six for 2012

Nov. 18, 2010

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Head Coach Cathy Swezey announced a six-member recruiting class that will enroll at Vanderbilt in the fall of 2011 and join the Commodore women’s lacrosse team following the early period for National Signing which concluded Wednesday.

Next year’s incoming class consists of Alexandra Duckenfield (Rutledge, Pa.; Strath Haven), Maggie Forker (Havertown, Pa.; Episcopal Academy), Madeline Kratz (Wilton, Conn.; Wilton), Gabrielle Nesi (Garden City, N.Y.; Garden City), Meghan Ramzy (Lutherville, Md.; Roland Park) and Rebecca Ryan (Ipswich, Mass.; Phillips Exeter).

“We are excited about our 2011 signees,” Swezey said. “This class is loaded with talent and will make an early impact on our program. The athletic ability and tenacity in these girls is second to none. It has been our goal in recent years to recruit the most competitive and aggressive players we can — and with this class we have succeeded. We look forward to having them on campus next fall.”

The group includes state champions and U.S. Lacrosse All-Americans, and promises to be a strong addition to beginning with the 2012 season.

While these six student-athletes will join the Commodores next fall, the 2011 spring season is set to begin on Saturday, Feb. 11, when Vanderbilt travels to Clinton, S.C., to face Presbyterian. The Commodores will play host to a seven-game regular season schedule before welcoming the American Lacrosse Conference Tournament to Nashville for the first time in May.
