Nashville — Vanderbilt and Hawaii will play a home-and-home football series in 2022 and 2023, both schools announced today.
The first game ever between the Commodores and Rainbow Warriors is scheduled Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. The two teams will return to Nashville for the second game on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023.
The 2022 meeting between Vanderbilt and Hawaii will be the Commodores’ first football game out of the continental United States.
The 2022 game will be held as a “Week Zero” game that is now allowed under NCAA rules for Hawaii and their opponents. Such games are played the Saturday prior to Labor Day weekend. Previously, the Thursday before Labor Day was the earliest FBS teams could play without a special exception from the NCAA.
The upcoming Hawaii series is the latest announcement of future games released recently by Vanderbilt Athletics. In addition to Hawaii, future series have been announced with the following schools:
