NASHVILLEâ€â€Vanderbilt lacrosse could not capitalize on a chance to move up in the BIG EAST standings on Saturday, losing at home to Georgetown by the final score of 15-9.
The Commodores (8-6, 3-3 BIG EAST) never led against the Hoyas (9-4, 5-1 BIG EAST), trailing 9-4 at halftime and losing the draw control battle, 15-11.
On Senior Day, senior attacker Kayla Peterson led the Commodores with four goals, moving her into 12th place in program history with 104 goals in a Commodore uniform.
The team honored its nine seniors before the game, with Frankie Angeleri, Mary Claire Dachille, Jess Dadino, Margaret Fee, Kayla Peterson, Leah Peterson, Kayla Pruitt, Lexi Smith and Marley Sternberg being recognized.
Hadley Brown added two goals for the Commodores, while Emily Mathewson and Julie Blaze each registered a goal and two assists.
Defensively, Angeleri collected three ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover while Fee earned three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover. Grace Bell made a career-high 10 saves in goal for the Dores.
Vanderbilt returns to action on Wednesday in Philadelphia for another BIG EAST matchup with Temple. Opening draw is at 11 a.m.
