Vanderbilt Falls At Navy, 26-29 ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Naval Academy Midshipmen handed Vanderbilt its third loss of the season today, defeating the Commodores 29-26 at Jack Stephens Field. It was the Commodores’ second consecutive loss by a margin of 3 points. — Box Score — Two strong Vanderbilt defensive stands in the first quarter were highlighted by linebacker Herdley Harrison’s solo sack for a 9-yard loss. The defense landed another sack in the second half, this time by defensive tackle Ralph McKenzie. Jay Cutler ran for one touchdown and threw for two more, the last of which came with Vanderbilt down by 10 points with 2:37 left in the game. An onside kick was recovered by Navy, and sealed the door on their fourth victory of the season. The Commodores return to Dudley Field Saturday, Oct. 2, to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs. |
