NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt-Alabama football game, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8 in Vanderbilt Stadium, will be played before a regional television audience.

SEC officials announced Wednesday that Lincoln-Financial Sports (LF Sports) will air the game across the Southeast. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. CT.

The Alabama encounter is Vanderbilt’s first SEC game of the season. The Commodores host Richmond in the 2007 opener on Saturday, Sept. 1.

In 2006, four Vanderbilt games, including the Commodores’ 24-22 victory at No. 22 Georgia, were aired by LF Sports.

The Commodores and Crimson Tide renewed a series last year that dates to 1903. Playing before a crowd of 92,000 in Tuscaloosa and a FOX Sports regional television audience, Vanderbilt dropped a narrow 13-10 decision.

The Sept. 8 meeting with Alabama will be the first time in five years that the Commodores and Crimson Tide have played in Nashville. In the last meeting on Vanderbilt’s campus, Alabama won 20-8.

The Commodores will play eight home games in 2007, representing the most games on the Nashville campus in more than a century.

Vanderbilt returns 17 starters and 52 letterwinners from a 2006 squad that finished 4-8 overall. The team is led by All-America wide receiver Earl Bennett, All-SEC linebacker Jonathan Goff and offensive tackle Chris Williams, and a host of standouts from last year, including quarterback Chris Nickson, defensive end Curtis Gatewood, linebacker Marcus Buggs and safety Reshard Langford.

Season tickets, starting as low as $99 per person, are available for the Commodores’ eight-game home schedule: Richmond, Sept. 1; Alabama, Sept. 8; Ole Miss, Sept. 15; Eastern Michigan, Sept. 29; Georgia, Oct. 13; Miami (Ohio), Oct. 27; Kentucky, Nov. 10; and Wake Forest, Nov. 24.
