Van Paris Moves Closer to Haskins Award

The senior is among 25 players named to the 2024-25 Haskins Award Final Fall Watch List

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Vanderbilt men’s golf senior Jackson Van Paris has been named to the 2024-25 Haskins Award, presented by Stifel, Final Fall Watch List, announced Wednesday by Golfweek and Golf Channel.

Van Paris was among 25 collegiate golfers named to this year’s Haskins Award Final Fall Watch List. It is the first time that the Pinehurst, North Carolina, native has been a fall finalist for the Haskins Award.

Created in 1971, the Haskins Award is given annually to the most outstanding men’s college golfer, as voted on by players, coaches, and media members. Past winners include Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Matt Kuchar, Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas, and the reigning winner, Jackson Koivun. This coveted trophy honors the year’s outstanding college golfer and the memory of Fred Haskins, a club pro who spent his life nurturing and mentoring amateur golfers.

The senior enjoyed a spectacular 2024 fall campaign, as he led the Commodores in stroke average at 70.00 strokes per round. Van Paris, currently No. 7 in the PGA TOUR University ranking, finished under par in seven of the 12 rounds he played over four fall tournaments. He carded a season-best 4-under 68 in Round 1 of the 2024 Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. The All-American finished inside the top 10 twice, posting his best finish at the 2024 Inverness Intercollegiate, where he placed in sixth after carding 3-under 204. Van Paris checked in at No. 8 in the most recent World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Earlier this fall, Van Paris was selected to the preseason Haskins Award Watch List after a breakout junior campaign in 2023-24. The Pinehurst, North Carolina, native earned a GCAA Division I PING All-American honorable mention nod and was an All-SEC second-team selection. The senior had a successful summer on the amateur circuit. He was runner-up at the North & South Amateur, advanced to match play at the 124th United States Amateur, and teamed up with fellow Vanderbilt golfer Gordon Sargent to help the U.S. win the Palmer Cup.
