ATHENS, Ga. — Vanderbilt men’s tennis began the Bulldog Invitational with a pair of singles wins from freshman Michael Ross and junior Siim Troost on Friday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Ross opened the tournament with a 7-5 victory in the opening set and then closed out his win over Tennessee’s Conor Gannon, 7-5, 6-3.
Meanwhile, Troost was triumphant over South Carolina’s Carter Morgan. He earned a straight set victory, 7-5, 6-4.
Ross and Troost also teamed up in doubles, but fell to Tennessee’s Diaz and Wallner, 8-5.
Joubert Klopper dropped a hard-fought, three-setter against Charlotte’s Mikhail Sokolovskiy, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5. While Connor Robb-Wilcox had to retire due to injury while trailing in the third set of his match with Trey Mallory (Charlotte), 6-7, 6-2, 2-1 (ret.)
