ATHENS, Ga. — Vanderbilt men’s tennis won all three of its matches on the final day of the Bulldog Invitational inside the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on Sunday.
For the second straight day, Joubert Klopper won in singles and doubles, including his consolation final in singles. Klopper defeated Furman’s Ivan Mitric in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 for his third consecutive singles win of the weekend.
A little while earlier, Klopper and Connor Robb-Wilcox won another doubles match in the consolation bracket. The duo defeated Reece Falck and Trey Mallory of UNC-Wilmington 8-4.
Meanwhile, the Commodore pairing of junior Siim Troost and freshman Michael Ross won their doubles match 8-3 over Georgia Tech’s Angel Guerrero Melgar and Pablo Schelcher.
“Joubert Klopper continues to be a bright spot and he is improving weekly,” head coach Ian Duvenhage said. “Siim Troost and Michael Ross played very well in doubles at times and so did Klopper and Connor Robb-Wilcox. Troost also played a very good singles match, but our goals going forward will be to execute on a more consistent basis.”
For the weekend, Klopper won three singles matches and teamed with Robb-Wilcox for a pair of doubles wins. Siim and Ross each won a singles match while also earning the doubles win together on the final day.
Next week, the Commodores will host their annual Commodore Invitational on Oct. 15-17 to wrap up the fall season.
