Trio of Commodores Rank Among Top 20 Following Opening Round of Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate

FRANKLIN, Tenn. — A trio of Vanderbilt players rank among the leaders following first round play in the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate at Vanderbilt Legends Club. The three-day event is taking place on the par 72, 7,190-yard Ironhorse Course.

Vanderbilt junior Dos Goldsmith enters second-round action Saturday tied with five other players for sixth place after carding a team-best 1-under par, 71. Goldsmith tied two other players with a first-round high 14 pars on the first day. He also recorded three birdies.

Fellow Commodore teammates freshman Jon Curran and junior Luke List shot an even-par 72 on Friday and are tied with four other players for 12th place. List’s six birdies tied for a first-round high.

The Vanderbilt trio is chasing Kansas’ Zach Pederson, who carded a 4-under par, 68 on Friday.

Baylor leads the team standings, recording a 2-over par, 290. Virginia, Middle Tennessee, Belmont and Kansas are tied for second, two shots back at 292. Vanderbilt is tied with two other teams for seventh place after carding a 9-over par, 297.

Vanderbilt’s two other players struggled on Friday. Senior Will Armstrong opened with an 82 and is tied for 62nd. Sophomore John Ebert finished with an 87 and is in 64th place.

Commodore freshman Tyler Matthews is playing the tournament as an individual. He posted a 3-over par 75 and enters Saturday tied for 30th place.

Second-round play starts Saturday at 8 a.m. CT. Vanderbilt will tee off from the 10th hole.
