Tigers top Dores 6-1

BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 17 LSU showed their experience on the courts, defeating the No. 48 Vanderbilt Commodores in a 6-1 showing in Baton Rouge, La. on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers started early, clinching the doubles, before settling in with a 3-0 lead. Gonzales Austin won his match 6-2, 7-6 to put the Commodores on the board. The team, while at a disadvantage, was largely still in a position to win, showing their strength on the court against the highly-ranked and experienced Tigers.

But Stefan Szacinski outlasted Anton Kovrigin on court four in a 6-4, 7-5 battle to clinch the match, and the Commodores moved to 0-2 in conference play.

The Dores hope to use home advantage in their favor this coming weekend, as Florida and South Carolina travel to Nashville for matches Friday and Sunday.
