Vanderbilt senior attacker Kendall Thrift was named the American Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday.

Thrift helped the Commodores go 2-0 on the week, with wins over New Hampshire and league rival Johns Hopkins. The Reisterstown, Md., native scored the game-winner against Hopkins in the 69th minute (during sudden-victory overtime), her second goal and fifth point of the game.

“It’s great to see Kendall playing the best lacrosse of her career in her senior season,” VU Head Coach Cathy Swezey said. “She has displayed great leadership all season, and it was good to see her have an athletic moment like she did yesterday.”

Earlier in the week she notched three goals and three assists in the win over New Hampshire. For her career, Thrift is now tied for the all-time Vanderbilt lead with 57 assists; she also ranks ninth all-time in points with 124.

Vanderbilt (8-4) now stands in second place in the conference with one ALC game left on its schedule. The Commodores travel to Columbus on Sunday, April 15, to face Ohio State at 12 Noon ET.

Thrift and the rest of the senior class will be honored on Wednesday, April 18, prior to a 4 p.m. CT draw against Notre Dame at the VU Lacrosse Complex.
