KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt swimmers Jess Cohen, Sarah Lynch and Betsy Galenti all swam at the Last Chance Tennessee Qualifier this weekend in hopes of capping the 2009-10 season on a positive note. Lynch competed in the 100-yard butterfly while Cohen and Galenti competed in the 50-yard freestyle.
After swimming a 58.99 in the 100-fly prelims, Lynch improved on that mark in the finals, clocking a 58.42, good for 11th place overall.
Five events later, Cohen and Galenti posted a pair of season-best swims in the preliminaries of the 50-yard freestyle. Galenti trimmed one-tenth of a second off her previous season high with a 24.90 while Cohen shaved .15 seconds off her previous best with a time of 27.47. The 50-freestyle swim marked the final collegiate race of Cohen’s career.
The last chance qualifier in Knoxville Saturday, marks the final competition for the Commodore team this season.
