NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Eighth-seeded Vanderbilt soccer takes on the top seed in the lower left quadrant, Florida State, in the NCAA Tournament’s second round on Friday afternoon at the Seminole Soccer Complex. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m. CT and the match can be seen on ESPN+.

Vanderbilt, 10-3-6, reached the 10-win mark last Friday in a 4-1 victory over Lipscomb in the opening round. Sydney Watts, who was named to the All-SEC Third Team, registered two goals for her second brace of the season. Courtney Jones and Maci Teater also found the back of the net to lift the Dores. Vandy’s win marks the fifth time under head coach Darren Ambrose that the Dores have posted 10 wins in a season.

Florida State (15-2-3) is coming off an 8-0 victory over Samford last weekend after claiming its fifth consecutive ACC Conference Tournament championship. Taylor Huff leads the pack with 34 points on the year, off 12 goals and 10 assists. The Seminoles have 16 different goal scorers who put in 67 goals this season for a 3.35-scoring offense (third in the country). In goal, Addie Todd has started all 20 matches and registered 48 saves so far this year.

This will be just the third meeting between the programs in a series that Florida State leads 2-0. The Seminoles have yet to concede a goal to the Commodores, as Florida State took a 3-0 victory in the first meeting in 2016 in Music City. The second meeting came in 2018 in Tallahassee in which the Seminoles won 1-0.
