NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The No. 3-ranked Vanderbilt men’s golf team begin its chase for a championship this week at the Inverness Intercollegiate. The two day, 54-hole tournament will take place at the Inverness Club on Monday and Tuesday.
Tournament Format
The 2024 Inverness Intercollegiate, hosted by Toledo, features two 18-hole rounds of stroke play on Monday and a third on Tuesday. Monday will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start and Tuesday will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Course Information
The Inverness Club is a 6,972-yard course that is playing as a par 69. Inverness has hosted many high-profile golf tournaments including four U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, two NCAA Championships and the U.S. Amateur.

The Field
A total of 14 teams will participate in the event. Along with the No. 3-ranked Commodores, the field features a total of five squads ranked inside the Golfweek Preseason Top 25.
Ranked teams playing at the Inverness Intercollegiate include preseason No. 1 and defending national champion Auburn, No. 4 Virginia, No. 11 Oklahoma and No. 14 Texas Tech. The rest of the field consists of Cal Poly, Clemson, Charleston, Louisville, Michigan, Purdue, SMU, Toledo, and Wake Forest.

The Last Time Vanderbilt Played at the Inverness Intercollegiate
The Commodores last participated in the Inverness Intercollegiate almost two decades ago. The team placed 14th overall at the 2005 event.
Colonel Shootout
Three Vanderbilt golfers will also be competing individually this weekend at the Colonel Shootout. Sophomores Chase Nevins and Ben Loomis, along with freshman Bowen Ballis, will play in a two-day, 54-hole tournament at The University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Kentucky.
