Taylor Takes League Honor

Vandy kicker selected SEC Special Teams Player of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt junior Brock Taylor was chosen SEC Special Teams Player of the Week the league office revealed on Monday, the third time since the start of last season he has picked up the award.

Taylor was honored for his part in the nationally-ranked Commodores’ victory over Utah State after he converted both of his field-goal attempts and was 6-of-6 on extra-point tries in scoring a season-best 12 points, one shy of his career high and the fifth occasion since the start of the 2024 campaign that he has posted 10-plus points in a game. His 46-yard field goal as time expired at the half gave Vandy a double-digit lead for good in the contest, and he also recorded touchbacks on five of his six kickoffs.

It was the first time this season that the Knoxville, Tennessee, native has connected on multiple field goals in a game as he has now made 16 in a row dating back to Oct. 5, 2024.

He becomes the fourth Dore to be recognized by the conference over the last four weeks, joining Nick Rinaldi (Defensive, Sept. 8), Jordan White (Offensive Lineman, Sept. 15) and Jamison Curtis (Freshman, Sept. 22).

Taylor and No. 16/17 Vanderbilt, off to its first 5-0 start since 2008, will visit No. 10/11 Alabama Saturday, with the matchup set to be broadcast on ABC beginning at 2:30 p.m.
