NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt women’s swimming is set to host Tulane and Western Kentucky Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Centennial Sportsplex. Start time is 11 a.m.
Saturday’s meet marks the third-straight home meet for the Commodores. Vanderbilt fell to SEC opponents LSU and Alabama in its previous two meets.
Vanderbilt will look to register its first win of the season on Saturday, while also looking to snap Western Kentucky’s two-meet win streak and Tulane’s three-meet win streak versus the Commodores.
“Right now we are just trying to keep everyone healthy and at practice,” said Vanderbilt head coach Jeremy Organ. “We have had a few people out with illness and so we are just trying to keep everyone from being out for too long of a stretch.”
Against Alabama, freshman Jenn Mann picked up two wins and two more school records in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Her times in those two races rank in the top 10 of the SEC, currently.
In all, the ‘Dores registered wins in five individual races against the Crimson Tide.
Freshman Hannah Martin recorded her first collegiate win in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.95. Sophomores Chrissy Oberg and Caroline Thomas finished first in the 200 backstroke and 100 freestyle, respectively.
“We have made great improvement from the start of the season, overall everyone is doing a great job both in and out of the pool,” Organ said. “The training environment in the pool is really exciting right now.”
Vanderbilt is set to begin the stretch run of the fall portion of the schedule, as the Commodores are in action the next three weekends.
The Commodores hit the road next Saturday, Nov. 10, when the team travels to Huntington, W. Va., to compete against Marshall.
