Swimming opening 2014-15 season in Athens, Ga.

Sept. 23, 2014

The Vanderbilt Women’s swimming team kicks off their 2014-15 season tomorrow in Athens, facing off against last year’s Women’s Swimming and Diving NCAA National Champions the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs.

The win was the Bulldog’s second consecutive title, and sixth overall. Georgia also earned their fifth consecutive and 11th overall Southeastern Conference championship last year. Following the season opener the `Dores host their first of the season’s five home meets on October 10th.

The first home meet for the Commodores will be an exciting one as they host Campbell, San Diego State, and University of Arkansas Little Rock on October 10th at the Centennial Sportsplex. On the 11th, Campbell returns home as Organ’s Squad faces off against SDSU and UALR.

The `Dores hit the road for the next three meets, traveling to Pensacola, Fla., to face the University of West Florida as well as the University of North Florida on October 16th. Vanderbilt’s first SEC opponent awaits in Auburn, Ala., where they take on the No. 15 Tigers and the ACC’s No. 24 Notre Dame Fighting Irish on the 18th of October.

Vanderbilt kicks off November in Huntington, W.V., against Marshall and Xavier (Nov. 1). The Commodores return to Nashville a week later on November 8th as they play host to the Tulane Green Wave and Western Kentucky. On Nov. 20-22 Vanderbilt will be attending the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta Georgia.

The Commodores will start things back up in January at home with back-to-back SEC dual meets against Kentucky (Jan. 9) and No. 22 Arkansas (Jan. 10). Vandy finishes off the regular season traveling to the South Carolina Gamecocks (Jan. 23-24) as they host Wingate and Queens University of Charlotte.

The 2015 SEC Championships will be held in Auburn, Ala., from February 17-21. The Commodores travel to Knoxville for a Last Chance Meet, March 2-3, before NCAAs begin. The NCAA Championships runs a month after SECs on March 19-21, in Greensboro, N.C.
