Swimming hosts home opener

Oct. 9, 2014

The Vanderbilt swimming team hosts its first home meet of the year at Centennial Sportsplex this weekend. The `Dores play host to Campbell University, San Diego State University, and the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.

“We’re very excited about our home meet”, said head coach Jeremy Organ. “The girls have been working really hard and we are ready for some competition. It’s always nice to compete at home in front of friends, family and Commodore fans. We are hoping to see a higher level of competition from the girls since last meet and how we respond swimming on back to back days”

UALR kicks-off its season where it left off last year, as the `Dores defeated the Trojans in their home finale, 145-86. The Campbell Camels come to Nashville off a tight loss to Liberty and placing fifth at last week’s All-North Carolina Invitational. The SDSU Aztec’s are entering their second meet of the season after defeating San Diego, 33-24.

Friday’s action starts at 1 p.m. and Saturday’s at 11 a.m. The Commodores will don pink caps this weekend in honor of breast cancer awareness month.
