NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt women’s swimming is back in action Saturday, Nov. 10, when the Commodores travel to Huntington, W. Va., to take on Marshall. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m. CT at the Frederick A. Fitch 8288470.jpegNatatorium.

Vanderbilt has defeated the Thundering Herd the last three seasons, including a 167-120 win last year in Nashville.

“The team is very confident right now, we are seeing some great things in practice and I feel we are in a really good spot for this time of the season,” said Vanderbilt head coach Jeremy Organ.

Last weekend, the Commodores dropped two meets versus Tulane and Western Kentucky. Against Tulane, the Commodores picked up wins in 10 individual races.

Freshman Jenn Mann picked up her third-straight win in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.03. Through her first three meets, Mann now has five total individual wins.

Caroline Thomas registered two wins for the Commodores on the day, as she won the 50 (24.25) and 100 freestyle in a time of 52.57. Thomas placed second in the 50 free (24.25) versus WKU, as she was barely edged out by Paige Drazga (24.23).

Hannah Martin finished first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.17. Chrissy Oberg had two first place finishes in the 100 and 200 backstroke. Her time of 57.68 in the 100 back was nearly two seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Oberg then won the 200 back in a time of 2:04.70.

Lauren Torres took first in the 100 and 200 butterfly. In the 100 fly, Torres won with a time 58.47, while she won the 200 fly with a time of 2:08.41. Elly Faulkner placed first in the 400 IM (4:38.22).

Last week the team was fighting illnesses, but Coach Organ believes his team will be ready for Marshall this weekend.

“So far everyone is starting to come out of whatever was going around, some still lingering a bit, but overall I think we are doing well,” Organ said.

The Commodores are on the road for a second-straight weekend when Coach Organ and his squad travel to Bowling Green, Ky., for the Western Kentucky Invite (Nov. 15-17).
