NASHVILLE, Tenn. Â The Vanderbilt swimming and diving team will host Centre College and Rhodes College in a triangular meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Centennial Sportsplex. The meet marks the first of two home meets the Commodores will have in the 2008-09 season.
The triangular will have thirteen events, starting with the 200 medley relay and ending with the 200 freestyle relay.
The ‘Dores enter this weekend with a 0-1 record after falling to Alabama 182-95 two weeks ago in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Against the Crimson Tide, Vanderbilt was led by the freshman trio of Kelly Obranowicz, Laura Dillon and Nicole Woodworth as they all posted first or second place times in their respected events. The Commodores swept the top three times in the 100-yard butterfly, with Obranowicz taking the top spot with a time of 59.78.
The 2008-09 Vanderbilt squad is one of the youngest in the nation as 85 percent of the squad is underclassman.
“Our team is looking forward to the opportunity of competing at home this weekend,” head coach Jeremy Organ said. “Last meet was the first of the season so we were able to see where we were as a team and what we needed to work on in preparing for this weekend’s meet.”
Final results and a recap of Saturday’s events will be posted on vucommodores.com at the conclusion of the meet.
