STATESBORO, Ga. – The Vanderbilt swimming and diving team lost a close dual meet to Georgia Southern on Saturday, falling 120-89. Commodore freshman Leigh Ann Axt again had a solid performance, winning two individual races.
Axt recorded her first victory of the day in the 400-yard individual medley. Axt finished with a time of 4:36.17 to clock in four seconds ahead of her nearest competitor.
Axt also won the 100-yard freestyle, recording a time of 53.30 seconds to finish a second ahead of Katelyn Woolfolk from Georgia Southern. Axt swept every individual race she competed in during the weekend’s two meets against North Florida and Georgia Southern.
The Commodores return to the pool in two weeks on Friday, Nov. 2 when they compete in their first conference meet of the season. Vanderbilt will face LSU and Alabama in a tri-meet to be held in Tuscaloosa. Start time for the meet is 4 p.m.
